Who am I?

My name is Crystal and I am the maker & artist, the heart & soul behind Bearpaw Silver. I believe there is no better designer than nature & she has always inspired me in my art & my life. In 2018, I picked up a torch for the first time and discovered my love for metalsmithing. Since then I have poured hundreds of hours into learning my craft, acquiring tools, & pushing myself out of my comfort zone to take on lapidary, inlay, chasing & repoussé, engraving, enameling, & casting techniques.

Why do I make?

Day & night I think of jewelry design, fabrication, & the result. Making drives my life forward & gives it meaning. I get to encompass my love for animals & nature, with my love for materials such as metal & stones into the medium I most enjoy.

How do I make?

It all begins with an idea & a sketch. I start with silver sheet metal & uncut stones, & shape them to become the items you see here! Each piece is completed entirely in my home studio with traditional jewelry techniques - hammer, files, saws & 1650ºF fire!
